Caterpillar is seeking a Software Engineer to join Cat Digital, the digital and technology arm of Caterpillar. You will design, develop, and deploy AI-powered digital platforms and microservices across mobile, web, and cloud systems.

You will contribute to API technologies, data pipelines, and AI agents while collaborating with teams to engineer production-ready software and innovative solutions across the enterprise. Relocation is possible, with relocation sponsorship not available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related degree (selected candidates must complete their degree by their start date)
• 0-2 years of relevant experience related to this field (internships or academic projects are a plus)
• Minimum cumulative GPA requirement 3.0/ 4.0 (no rounding)
• Experience through internships, personal projects, research, hackathons, student organizations, or coursework is highly valued

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, development, implementation, testing, and support of AI-powered solutions
• Identify, evaluate, and de-risk emerging technologies by creating proofs of technology and concept
• Design and implement enterprise microservices
• Enable API technologies and deploy patterns using .NET skills to create AI agents
• Mobile and web development
• UI/UX design activities including wireframing and prototyping within a design system
• Develop data pipelines in Python and resolve defects via code or SageMaker notebooks
• Leverage generative AI tools to accelerate development and defect triaging
