Great American Insurance Group is seeking a Data Automation Intern for summer 2027 in Cincinnati, OH. The role focuses on building Python-based automation, leveraging AI-assisted tools, and collaborating with Data Engineering and DevOps teams to streamline data workflows.

You will gain hands-on experience in modern development practices, CI/CD, and documentation while delivering practical automation solutions with business impact.

Qualifications

• Basic programming experience, preferably Python.
• Foundational understanding of software development concepts.
• Interest in AI, automation, data engineering or DevOps.
• Willingness to learn modern development and data technologies.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop automation solutions and utilities using Python.
• Use AI development tools like GitHub Copilot, OpenSpec and Claude to assist with coding, testing, documentation, code review, and automation.
• Help automate data workflows, pipelines, monitoring, alerting, validation, and repetitive engineering tasks.
• Work with Data Engineering and other technology teams to understand processes and identify automation opportunities.
• Participate in the design, development, testing, and documentation of automation solutions.
• Learn and apply software development, DevOps, and automation best practices.
• Participate in team discussions, demonstrations, and knowledge sharing.
