Job summary

Orbis is seeking a seasoned engineering leader to head the Orbis AI portfolio, including the Agent Catalog, OSINT Agent Harness, and Pulse Analytics. You will grow a team of software and research engineers, set cadence, and ensure accuracy, trustworthiness, security, and rapid iteration in deployed capabilities.

The role involves travel up to 20% for customer engagement, integration support, and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years directly managing engineers
• Track record of delivering meaningful product surfaces on committed timelines
• Technical depth in distributed systems, backend services, or AI/data platforms
• Ability to grow engineers through leveling and performance conversations

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and grow a team of software and research engineers, owning hiring, onboarding, performance, and career development
• Own the team's delivery commitments end to end — scope, sequence, and land work each cycle
• Drive the research-to-product path with product management and define criteria for roadmap commitments
• Enforce product principles: accuracy, security, data sovereignty, explainability, and performance
• Establish engineering standards: design reviews, testing, observability, on-call, incident follow-through
• Guide architecture for cloud, on-premises, and edge deployments from a single codebase
• Address cross-team blockers with product teams consuming Orbis AI capabilities
• Travel up to 20% for customer engagement and collaboration
