Job summary

Guardian Life Insurance Company of America is seeking a Head of AI Platform Engineering – Execution Plane to lead the enterprise platform’s execution layer, including agent runtimes, model gateways, and related services. The role partners with cross-functional teams to drive automation, scalability, and governance across the AI stack.

The position requires deep hands-on experience with production-grade distributed systems, AI/ML platforms, and cloud-native patterns.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, management, or a related field.
Strong people-leadership experience managing software engineering teams including hiring and performance management.
Deep hands-on background designing and operating production-grade distributed systems and AI/ML platforms.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop automation solutions that drive growth and reduce costs.
Lead and mentor a software engineering team with hiring and performance management responsibilities.
Design, build, and operate production-grade distributed systems, AI/ML platforms, data platforms, or cloud-native runtime services.
Own the roadmap and delivery for execution plane capabilities (e.g., model gateways, agent runtimes, retrieval pipelines).
Ensure execution technologies operate behind governed platform interfaces with security and governance partners.
