Job summary

AbbVie Software Engineer—AI Platform in a hybrid role. You will develop, test, and maintain platform capabilities and APIs to enable enterprise generative AI across scientific, clinical, and operations teams.

Collaborate with senior engineers, product owners, architects, data teams, and security partners to deliver reliable features, improve developer experience, and ensure governance across the stack. Strong communication and quick learning are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant technical experience in software/AI platform engineering.
• Hands-on experience building or supporting software applications, APIs, cloud-based services, data pipelines, automation, or AI/ML-enabled solutions.
• Familiar with modern software development practices: source control, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and agile delivery.
• Interest in generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval augmented generation, or AI platform tooling.
• Able to learn quickly, collaborate across teams, and communicate technical concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain AI platform capabilities including APIs and backend services.
• Create reusable engineering patterns for prompt management, retrieval-augmented generation, model routing, observability, and secure data access.
• Collaborate with product owners, senior engineers, architects, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions.
• Support AI platform onboarding and adoption by helping teams troubleshoot issues, improve documentation, and apply development patterns.
• Follow AbbVie standards for secure software delivery, privacy, and governance.
