Job summary

Supermicro is seeking an experienced AI Network Software Solution Architect to lead design and development of next-generation network infrastructure optimized for AI workloads. The role requires deep expertise in GPU fabric design, high-speed switching, network automation, and observability at scale.

Based at our San Jose, CA headquarters, you will architect solutions in collaboration with external providers and internal teams.

Qualifications

>> 15-20 years in network engineering or architecture roles, including large-scale data center or AI infrastructure environments.
>> Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
>> Strong business acumen: able to balance performance, cost, and scalability in architecture decisions.
>> Customer-focused mindset: experience working with customers to design solutions and resolve complex challenges.
>> Strong communication & leadership: exceptional written and verbal skills with executives.
>> Hands-on with Open Networking switching platforms & SONiC.
>> Proven track record designing data center fabrics using BGP, OSPF, EVPN-VXLAN, and overlay networks.
>> Expertise with InfiniBand, RoCEv2, RDMA-based networking in GPU environments.
>> Proficient in network automation using Ansible, Terraform, Python, and Git-based workflows.
>> Ability to define business-aligned network strategy roadmaps for scalable AI infra.
>> Experience leading HLD/LLD design efforts and technical documentation.
>> Strong understanding of telemetry, observability, and proactive health management.

Responsibilities

Design & develop cutting-edge network solutions with external providers, VARs, and internal teams.
AI-optimized network architecture to support training and distributed inference.
Fabric design & topology using RAIL, Clos-based multiplane leaf-spine with 100G/400G/800G.
Control plane & protocol integration for multitenant BGP, EVPN, VXLAN routing.
Define and drive networking strategy aligned with growth, automation goals, and AI scale.
Network automation & orchestration using Ansible, Terraform, and Python.
System performance & observability through telemetry pipelines and analytics.
HLD/LLD documentation, playbooks, and operational standards for scalable deployments.
Technology & market evaluation of NVIDIA, AMD, hyperscalers, providers.
Cross-functional leadership with platform, hardware, facilities, and security teams.
