Job summary

EPAM Systems seeks an experienced AI engineering leader to design, build, and ship AI-native systems end-to-end. You will own agents, workflows, RAG, and the harness, write production-grade Python, and work directly with SMEs and end-users to validate real-world value.

You will shape use cases, build evaluation pipelines, and ensure robust deployments with cloud infrastructure and observability tools. Strong English, 7+ years of production AI experience, and a track record with LangChain-like

Qualifications

• 7+ years of engineering experience in production AI/LLM apps.
• Strong agent-design judgement and context-aware task harnessing.
• Hands-on with agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel) and major LLM providers.
• Expert-level Python and solid software engineering fundamentals.
• Strong RAG and retrieval skills: vector databases, embeddings, hybrid search, re-ranking, chunking.
• Experience evaluating generative AI quality and using observability/tracing tools.
• Production cloud deployment with containerization and CI/CD.
• Sound judgment under ambiguity in scoping and sequencing.
• English at C1 level.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship AI-native systems end-to-end—agents, workflows, RAG, and the harness.
• Build evaluation pipelines to prove usefulness of the system.
• Design for failure in the agent loop: retries, fallbacks, cost limits, human-in-the-loop.
• Capture domain expertise and reusable workflows for cross-engagement reuse.
• Engage early with clients to shape use cases and assess feasibility.
• Write production-grade Python: integrations, APIs, data access, deployment.
• Collaborate with SMEs and end-users through interviews, UAT, and workflow validation.
