Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking an Applied AI & Data Engineer for the Business & Education organization in Cupertino, CA. You will design and deploy data and AI platforms, enabling AI-native capabilities at scale across enterprise and education domains.

You will own AI systems end-to-end, build GenAI data foundations, and drive scalable, production-ready pipelines with a focus on performance, reliability, and governance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years across data/analytics/software/ML engineering with 3+ years shipping Applied AI.
• Architect, build, and operate production AI products with LLMs, agents, and deterministic components.
• Hands-on fluency with modern LLM and agent frameworks, vector search, and RAG pipelines.
• Production discipline for AI systems: guardrails, telemetry, cost and latency optimization.
• Foundational ML/DL knowledge, transformer basics, embeddings, and evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the data and AI platform for Business and Education on Databricks, AWS, and modern cloud-native patterns.
• Own AI and agentic systems end-to-end: retrieval, planning, evaluation, guardrails, deployment, and on-call rotation.
• Build data foundation for GenAI, agentic AI, and analytics: RAG pipelines, vector search, knowledge graphs, multi-agent workflows.
• Ensure systems scale with model selection, latency, throughput, and token economics at Apple volume.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, and AI stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable production systems.
• Provide architectural guidance, design reviews, and production-readiness checks across lifecycles.
• Mentor engineers and promote AI-native practices via workshops and playbooks.
• Explore state-of-the-art data and AI techniques and turn them into measurable productivity gains.
