Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience required.
• 5+ years leading ML design and optimizing end-to-end ML systems.
• 3+ years in technical leadership; 2+ years people management.
• Experience with speech/audio, RL, ML infrastructure, or related ML fields preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide coaching, mentorship, and career growth for engineers across large-scale distributed ML systems and open-source generative AI models.
• Partner with Tech Leads, PMs, and cross-functional teams to define and execute the roadmap for scalable JAX-based LLM (MaxText) and Diffusion (MaxDiffusion) frameworks.
• Guide the team in implementing core performance optimizations (quantization, sparsity, custom kernels) and support for new accelerator architectures (TPUs/GPUs) on GCP AI Hypercomputer.
• Collaborate with DeepMind, Core ML, and the open-source community to deliver high-quality, reusable software and MLPerf benchmark submissions.
• Balance rapid model innovation with sustainable engineering practices, reliability, and a high-trust team environment.
