Google is seeking a PhD Software Engineer in ML/AI to drive research into next‑generation ML systems. You will collaborate with teams across AI, Cloud, YouTube, Search, and Ads, applying deep expertise in ML and software engineering to build scalable, production‑ready technologies.

You will lead research into model architectures and data pipelines, contribute to APIs and user interfaces for AI products, and work with state‑of‑the‑art frameworks like PyTorch, JAX, and TensorFlow.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent practical experience in CS/AI or related field.
• Proficiency in Python, C/C++, Java, JavaScript or Golang.
• Experience in ML/AI research and applications.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate or lead on ML system design, analysis, and development across the stack.
• Support building end-to-end ML systems from low-level acceleration to production APIs.
• Optimize performance and memory usage in production ML systems.
• Contribute to high-quality, well-tested code and peer reviews.
