Job summary

General Motors in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Simulation AI/ML Engineer intern to partner with senior engineers to evaluate GM’s autonomous vehicle stack. You will scale testing and evaluation by applying AI/ML techniques, design experiments, and deploy production‑ready code.

The role involves collaborating across teams, delivering tasks efficiently, and contributing to the development of simulation infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in CS, AI, ML, robotics, engineering, or related STEM field.
• At least one additional semester remains after internship.
• Solid understanding of modern ML techniques.
• Demonstrated coursework, research, or projects in AI/ML.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Available to work full-time (40 hours/week).

Responsibilities

• Leverage AI/ML techniques to scale testing, classify autonomy performance, and mine critical scenarios.
• Collaborate with engineers to integrate ML models into simulation tests and evaluation pipelines.
• Ramp up quickly on the codebase and domain; deliver tasks with few iterations.
• Develop, test, and deploy production-ready code across simulation infrastructure components.
• Define problem statements and implement optimized, tradeoff-aware solutions that cover edge cases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and participate in design and code reviews.
