Job summary
Ford Energy, a newly formed Ford subsidiary, seeks a senior leader to own the AI roadmap for battery manufacturing. You will guide the process from pilot to scale, evaluate methods, and build reference architectures for high-value use cases across Ford's battery sites.
You will establish data standards, align with IT/OT, and act as center of excellence for manufacturing AI, including exploring generative AI to improve workflows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred) or Bachelor's in Science (Computer Science).
- 10+ years of experience with applied AI/ML in production or process systems.
- Depth in manufacturing or process data including multivariate data, time-series, SPC, and design of experiments.
Responsibilities
- Own the AI roadmap for battery manufacturing: pilot, scale, retire, tied to yield, quality, cost, and launch speed.
- Benchmark internally across Ford battery sites and externally across suppliers and materials.
- Build PoCs and reference architectures for high-value use cases: formation/aging optimization, inline coating/defect vision, yield genealogy, predictive maintenance.
- Set data, labeling, and model standards for cross-plant reuse.
- Act as center of excellence for battery manufacturing AI: evaluate vendors, guide embedded engineers, align IT/OT on security and scale.
- Apply generative and agentic AI to engineering and plant workflows where appropriate.
