Job summary

Inari is seeking an AI/ML leader to set direction for the AI Team, owning the roadmap for ML systems that serve genomic and phenotypic predictions. You will balance production ML workflows with exploration of novel modeling approaches, partnering with computational biologists and crop scientists to contextualize data and drive impactful research.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Computational Biology, or related field; 7+ years ML experience.
• Hands-on ML depth: Python, scientific stack; trained/deployed NN with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Deploy, maintain and monitor ML models at scale on AWS, SageMaker, Docker, MLflow, Airflow.
• Experience leading a technical team and defining a modeling roadmap.
• Strong cross‑functional communication translating biology questions to ML framing.

Responsibilities

• Set the direction and standards for Inari’s AI Team and balance shipping with exploration.
• Define model evaluation against experimental and field outcomes for trust.
• Partner with biologists to contextualize heterogeneous biological data for modeling.
• Deliver applied AI solutions including agentic, GenAI, RAGs, and foundation models.
• Mentor ML engineers and manage contractor engagements to deliver capabilities.
• Remain hands‑on and contribute where impact is greatest; represent AI Team in leadership.
