Job summary

Vantor is seeking a senior AI/ML engineer to develop and maintain AI-driven applications with agent-based workflows and RAG capabilities. You will design scalable architectures, integrate LLMs, and build Python REST APIs to support data retrieval and workflow orchestration.

The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, US citizenship, and willingness to work onsite full time in the McLean, VA area. Strong Python and data/AI library experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related area of study.
• 8+ years experience for Senior Labor Category with a Bachelor’s degree; or 7 years with a Master’s; or 6 with a Doctorate.
• Active/current TS/SCI with required polygraph.
• Willingness to work onsite full time.
• US citizenship required.
• Proficiency in Python and common data/AI libraries.
• Experience developing AI/ML applications with LLM integration and RAG workflows.
• Experience with agent-based programming concepts, AI frameworks, and tool-based LLM development.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML fundamentals, models, data processing, and integration patterns.
• Experience designing or integrating REST APIs for data exchange.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain AI/ML-enabled applications with agent-based workflows, LLM integration, and RAG capabilities.
• Design and support agent-based architectures, orchestration logic, memory management, and integration with external systems.
• Implement and maintain RAG pipelines: document processing, embedding generation, retrieval configuration, prompt assembly, and response optimization.
• Integrate LLMs into applications via APIs and AI frameworks.
• Develop and maintain Python-based REST APIs to support data retrieval, system integration, and agent workflows.
• Support full-stack development of production-ready AI applications (backend + frontend) and deployment patterns.
• Process and transform structured/unstructured data for AI/ML workflows and model interaction.
• Design or refine PostgreSQL schemas and data models for performance and scalability.
• Optimize AI-enabled applications for reliability, usability, and maintainability.
