Job summary

Gecko Robotics seeks an AI/ML Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team in New York for Summer 2027. This is a full-time, onsite internship, Monday through Friday, focused on turning rich NDT sensor data into actionable models and pipelines.

You will own a scoped ML project, build data pipelines in Python, train and evaluate models, and integrate a workflow with engineers and deployment peers. Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in a technical field with an expected graduation between Dec 2027 and May 2028.
• Ability to work onsite in New York, Monday–Friday, for the full Summer 2027 internship.
• Strong programming experience in Python with well-structured, tested code beyond notebooks.
• Coursework or project experience in machine learning on real datasets.
• Familiarity with linear algebra, probability, and statistics.
• Experience with Git or similar version control systems.
• Clear written and verbal communication and the ability to work on ambiguous problems.
• Ability to close knowledge gaps, stay organized, and learn from feedback.

Responsibilities

• Own a scoped machine learning project from problem framing through evaluation and integration.
• Build data pipelines in Python that clean, label, and structure NDT sensor data for model training and inference.
• Train, evaluate, and iterate on models and design practical evaluations.
• Integrate a model or LLM-based workflow into a service or tool used by engineers.
• Investigate failure modes on real-world data and document findings and next steps.
• Use version control, code reviews, testing, and experiment tracking to ensure reproducibility.
• Present project results and next steps at internship end.
