Job summary

DESE Research, Inc. in Huntsville, AL, seeks an AI/ML Engineer to design, develop, and deploy advanced ML/LLM solutions for national defense across ground, missile defense, space, and installation systems, delivering trustworthy AI in controlled environments.

You will build vector-based retrieval systems, RAG pipelines, and edge deployment workflows; optimize models with quantization and ONNX/TensorRT, and ensure security through SBOMs and robust testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/CPE/EE/Data Science (or related field).
• Proven experience in ML/LLM development, assurance/evaluation tooling, or deploying edge computing solutions.
• Hands-on experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
• Proficiency in Python and at least one additional language (Java, C++).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ML models from classical vs deep learning architectures.
• Build LLM-enabled apps and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines with vector DB integration.
• Develop AI assurance tools: robustness testing, bias analysis, model traceability and auditing.
• Optimize and deploy models for production and edge environments (quantization, containerized inference, ONNX/TensorRT).
• Implement secure model and data pipelines; defend against adversarial ML threats and SBOM compliance.
• Document processes and present assurance evidence to stakeholders.
• Contribute to Agile, team-based planning and estimating in a fast-paced environment.
