Job summary

Gremlin is seeking a Data Scientist, AI/ML to improve reliability across distributed systems by turning millions of chaos experiments into automated failure analysis and remediation. You will train models to detect and explain failures, build remediation recommendations, and work with platform engineers to embed AI into Gremlin’s product.

You will leverage causal AI, graph ML, and time-series methods to continuously improve accuracy and deliver scalable data pipelines for training and real-time

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience building and productionizing ML for distributed systems, infra, or DevOps/SRE use cases.
• Hands-on experience with causal inference, graph ML, time-series modeling, or reinforcement learning.
• Experience building data pipelines and feature stores for offline training and real-time inference.
• Experience with agile development and rigorous experimentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Analyze Gremlin’s large chaos-engineering dataset to identify failure patterns and resilience signals.
• Pretrain and fine-tune ML models to detect, classify, and explain failures in chaos experiments.
• Build automated remediation recommendations and orchestration from historical outcomes and system behavior.
• Develop scalable data pipelines and feature stores for training and real-time inference.
• Collaborate with platform engineers and SREs to integrate AI-driven failure analysis into Gremlin’s core product.
• Apply causal AI, graph ML, time-series modeling, and reinforcement learning to improve accuracy and actionability of analyses.
• Translate chaos-experiment insights into AI-powered features for blast radius, root causes, and recovery insights.
• Research and productionize novel ML approaches, including agentic systems, for automated remediation strategies.
