Job summary

Stanford Law School’s liftlab seeks a Research Scientist to advance AI-driven legal innovation. You will design, evaluate and prototype AI tools for education and private practice, reporting to Lab Directors and collaborating with researchers and students.

You will train models, develop AI platforms, supervise research assistants, contribute to scholarly articles and grant proposals, and help communicate complex findings to diverse audiences across academia, industry, and the public sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
• Experience in quantitative disciplines such as economics, statistics, or engineering is valued.

Responsibilities

• Execute and administer AI research activities in law tech; advise on project development.
• Train classifiers; design architecture of AI platforms; build LLM agents.
• Supervise and mentor research staff and fellows; disseminate findings through reports and journals.
• Contribute to grant proposals and summarize data for grant support; communicate with external stakeholders.
