Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking an AI Integration Architect to shape how AI capabilities securely connect across Schwab’s technology ecosystem. You will lead architecture for agentic AI solutions, connecting agents with enterprise APIs, cloud services, identity platforms, and LLMs.

You will evaluate technologies, establish standards and governance, and address complex security, resiliency, and scalability challenges while aligning with long-term business value.

Qualifications

• 10+ years addressing operational and non-functional architecture requirements including scalability, performance, maintainability, resilience, recovery, security, and privacy.
• 5+ years of cloud technologies and API management experience.
• 5+ years delivering services at scale on cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• 3+ years addressing OWASP Top 10 API security risks.
• 1+ years applying OWASP guidance for LLM and agentic applications to mitigate risks like prompt injection and data leakage.
• Architecting highly available agentic AI applications with fault tolerance, observability, retries, timeouts, circuit breakers, and graceful degradation.
• Designing secure, scalable AI integration patterns spanning agent-to-agent communication, enterprise APIs, SaaS platforms, cloud services, middleware, AI/gateway APIs, and LLMs.
• Strong knowledge of OAuth/OIDC, identity propagation, least-privilege access, traffic management, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, and service mesh technologies.

As an AI Integration Architect, you’ll help shape how emerging artificial intelligence capabilities securely connect across Schwab’s enterprise technology ecosystem. Working within Application Architecture, you’ll partner with architects, engineers, product teams, and business leaders to translate evolving AI technologies into scalable architecture patterns that enable enterprise reuse, resilience, and responsible innovation.

You’ll provide architecture leadership for highly available agentic AI solutions, connecting AI agents with enterprise APIs, cloud services, identity platforms, and large language models. You’ll evaluate emerging technologies, establish architecture standards and governance -> that inform governance, and solve complex integration, security, resiliency, and scalability challenges. Your ability to think strategically, connect complex systems, influence decisions, and balance long-term architecture with near-term business value will help shape Schwab’s evolving AI ecosystem.

What you have

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience addressing operational and non-functional architecture requirements, including scalability, performance, maintainability, resilience, recovery, security, and privacy.
• 5+ years of experience with cloud technologies and API management, including enterprise API management platforms and more recently AI gateway platforms.
• 5+ years of experience delivering services at scale on cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• 3+ years of experience identifying and mitigating OWASP Top 10 API security risks.
• 1+ years of experience applying OWASP guidance for LLM and agentic applications to identify and mitigate risks such as prompt injection, sensitive information disclosure, excessive agency, tool misuse, and identity or privilege abuse.
• Demonstrated ability to architect highly available and resilient agentic AI applications using fault tolerance, observability, workload isolation, retries, timeouts, circuit breakers, and graceful degradation.
• Experience designing secure, scalable AI integration patterns spanning agent-to-agent communication, tool discovery, enterprise APIs, SaaS platforms, cloud services, middleware, AI and API gateways, and large language models.
• Strong knowledge of delegated authorization, OAuth/OIDC, identity propagation, least-privilege access, traffic management, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, and service mesh technologies.

• Ability to apply enterprise architecture, strategic thinking, and forward thinking to establish standards, guide technology strategy, anticipate industry trends, and influence enterprise-wide direction.
• Strong conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect complex technologies and business needs into practical, reusable architecture patterns.
• Demonstrated stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to influence architects, engineers, business partners, and executive leaders toward strategic decisions.
• Ability to promote innovation and experimentation while balancing emerging technology opportunities with enterprise security, resilience, governance, and operational requirements.
• Experience in financial services, investment management, or securities markets.
