Job summary

Visionist, Inc. seeks a Software Engineer (AI Infrastructure) to design, implement, and optimize scalable AI infrastructure supporting production services and RAG systems. You will work on diverse tools and foster rapid iterations with analysts and engineers across an intelligence community program.

You will mentor junior engineers, implement observability and security best practices, and drive adoption of modern IaC and engineering practices in a collaborative, mission‑focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline; 8 years of software development experience may substitute.
• Experience building and maintaining production systems at scale.
• Strong background in cloud engineering and AWS.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes administration and deployment patterns.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Experience implementing observability solutions (APM, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize infrastructure for AI model inference at scale.
• Support production AI services and applications including RAG and autonomous agents.
• Define and implement solutions for ambiguous or underspecified systems.
• Drive adoption of new technologies and practices across engineering teams.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions for AI services.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using IaC principles.
• Ensure availability, reliability, and performance of AI platform components.
• Contribute to security best practices for AI systems and data.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
