Job summary

Barrow Wise Consulting, LLC is seeking an AI Infrastructure Engineer to design and implement modern AI infrastructure for federal mission environments. You will blend secure data architectures with agentic AI and RAG pipelines, and you will develop scalable, well-tested deployment tooling for air-gapped, on-prem, and classified environments.

Ideal candidates have US Citizenship with a Secret Clearance and 8 years of relevant experience, plus a Master's or PhD in a related field.

Qualifications

• 8 years of systems engineering and AI infrastructure development experience.
• US Citizenship with Secret Clearance.
• Master's degree or PhD in a related field.
• Experience designing AI infrastructure for on-prem and air-gapped environments.
• Ability to travel to California as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assess legacy infrastructure, identify modernization gaps, and design AI + Data Mesh infrastructure with Zero Trust 2.0 for federal mission environments.
• Blend AI platform engineering with secure distributed data architecture and classified-environment deployment engineering.
• Evaluate current systems, design modernization roadmaps, and build secure, scalable AI infrastructure for agentic AI, RAG pipelines, and distributed data governance.
• Identify gaps in scalability, observability, compliance, and AI readiness.
• Design and implement scalable AI infrastructure for model inference, RAG, vector databases, and high-performance GPU workloads.
• Build deterministic deployment tooling for air-gapped, on-prem, and classified environments.
• Produce modernization roadmaps aligned with federal cybersecurity and zero-trust requirements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand gaps and required improvements in the various enclaves.
• Work Remotely, but some travel is required to California.

• Assess legacy infrastructure, identify modernization gaps, and design the next-generation AI + Data Mesh infrastructure + Zero Trust 2.0 for federal mission environments.
• Blend AI platform engineering, secure distributed data architecture, and classified-environment deployment engineering.
• Evaluate current systems, design modernization roadmaps, and build secure, scalable AI infrastructure capable of supporting agentic AI, RAG pipelines, autonomous workflows, and distributed data governance.
• Identify gaps in scalability, observability, compliance, and AI readiness.
• Design and implement scalable AI infrastructure for model inference, RAG, vector databases, agentic AI, and high-performance GPU workloads.
• Build deterministic, well-tested deployment tooling for air-gapped, on-prem, and classified environments.

An Ideal Candidate has:
