Qualifications

• Proven track record of breaking news and building high-level sources you can trust.
• Fierce curiosity about power, money, and institutions; tech background is a plus but not required.
• The judgment and analytical rigor to explain complex, fast-moving stories clearly.
• The drive to juggle fast scoops with ambitious, high-impact investigations.
• Based in, or willing to relocate to, the San Francisco Bay Area with a flexible hybrid model (three days in-office).

Responsibilities

• Cover OpenAI's leaders, business, AI breakthroughs, products, policy fights, and impact on how the world works.
• Build trust with sources and translate complexity into narrative.
• Collaborate with the AI reporter and other desks to set pace for industry coverage.
• Deliver scoops and analyses that shape public conversation about technology.
