Job summary

The University of Chicago RCC seeks a Computational Scientist to advance data acquisition, ingestion, and integration for multi-institutional research projects. You will help develop user interfaces and scalable back-end services to accelerate scientific output, while collaborating with faculty on HPC, AI, and cloud resources.

Hybrid position requiring 3 days onsite; you will work with a team of Computational Scientists to support research computing at the university and its partners.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
• PhD in a relevant field preferred for scientific computing roles.
• Experience combining AI/HPC techniques with research computing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software for data acquisition, ingestion, and integration for research projects.
• Advise on RCC resources, HPC systems, AI technologies, and cloud platforms.
• Develop, optimize, and support scientific software and computational workflows on RCC systems.
• Profile and port scientific applications to maximize performance across CPU, GPU, memory, and I/O.
• Document technical processes and contribute to RCC knowledge base resources.
• Stay current with AI, HPC, GPU computing, and cloud technologies.
