Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Product Manufacturing Engineer to drive PCBA manufacturing strategy and ensure production readiness for next‑gen AI hardware. You will work with design, systems, operations, TPMs, and contract manufacturers to transition concepts from prototype builds to high‑volume production.

The role involves establishing NPIs, quality controls, and robust processes to deliver complex hardware at scale. Relocation assistance and a hybrid work model are offered for this SF‑based position.

Qualifications

• Experience taking complex hardware from concept to NPI and production.
• Strong knowledge of PCBA assembly, rework, testing, and yield improvements.
• Ability to partner with design, systems, operations, and suppliers to drive manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Drive manufacturing strategy and execution for next‑gen AI hardware across PCBA, assembly, and testing.
• Own production readiness, process validation, and transition to high‑volume production.
• Develop and manage NPIs, milestones, and readiness criteria with internal teams and external partners.
• Perform risk assessments, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions for manufacturing and yield issues.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, systems, test, reliability, and supply‑chain teams throughout product lifecycle.
