Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Product Manufacturing Engineer in San Francisco to lead manufacturing strategy and execution for next‑generation AI hardware. You will own PCBA development, assembly processes, and production readiness, coordinating with design, systems, and external partners to ensure smooth transitions from prototype to volume production.

Qualifications

• Experience moving hardware from concept to mass production (NPI to ramp).
• Deep expertise in PCBA manufacturing, assembly, test, and yield.
• Experience with multinational contract manufacturers and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Drive manufacturing strategy and execution for next‑gen AI hardware.
• Own PCBA manufacturing development and production readiness, including assembly processes and tests.
• Establish NP I processes, quality controls, milestones, and deliverables with internal teams and partners.
• Provide hands‑on manufacturing engineering support during design, prototype, validation, and production.
• Drive risk assessment, mitigation, and change management throughout the product lifecycle.
• Lead root‑cause analysis for manufacturing and test issues, improving yield.
