Job summary

Intel is seeking exceptional Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and AI/ML students for an AI Hardware Engineering internship focused on AI inference and infrastructure with hardware/software co-design. You will analyze model architecture, inference behavior, memory movement, and data-center constraints to impact throughput, latency, power, and total cost of ownership.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, AI/ML, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
Strong foundation in computer architecture, operating systems, distributed systems, parallel computing, AI/ML systems, HPC, or systems software.
Experience with low-level languages (C, C++, Rust, CUDA, SYCL, OpenCL) or similar.

Responsibilities

Conduct technical research on next-gen AI infrastructure including CPUs, GPUs, AI accelerators, ASICs, memory systems, networking and cluster management.
Analyze GenAI workloads to understand hardware implications (transformers, mixture-of-experts, multimodal models).
Evaluate hardware behavior of AI inference pipelines (memory, compute utilization, interconnects).
Develop technical recommendations and benchmarks to inform Intel product/architecture decisions.
