UMB Financial is seeking an AI Governance Security Architect to define enterprise-wide AI governance, ensure secure and compliant adoption of AI within banking operations, and lead risk management across IT, risk, compliance and business functions.
Hybrid role based in Kansas City, MO, with on-site Mon-Thu and Fri remote, focusing on AI lifecycle governance, security standards, and regulatory alignment.
UMB’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) team is responsible for driving automation, data-driven decision making and software modernization using AI centric tools. Currently, we leverage machine learning, natural language processing, predictive analytics, and generative AI to enhance customer experience, and improve operational efficiency. This includes utilizing fraud protection software to ensure regulatory and system availability. As an AI Governance Security Architect, you will be responsible for developing and leading enterprise frameworks that ensure the ethical, secure, and compliant adoption of AI within the financial organization. You will bridge cybersecurity, risk management, and AI lifecycle governance to safeguard sensitive data and models against threats, while meeting regulatory obligations. You will also provide strategic leadership across IT, risk, compliance, and business functions to embed responsible AI practices, strengthen resilience against AI-specific risks, and enable innovation in a secure and controlled manner. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which will include multiple initiatives as assigned by IT leadership. This role is hybrid (Mon through Thu on-site / Fri remote) at the UMB Technology Operations Center located in downtown Kansas City, MO.

Targeted compensation for this opening: The posted salary range reflects the broadest standard range for this role, including all locations. The anticipated compensation for this specific position is $150,000 - 170,000. This role is also eligible for annual incentive pay. Compensation Ranges: US Employees in California, Washington DC, New Jersey, and New York: $100,710 - $157,630 US Employees in Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin: $91,950 - $144,320 US Employees in all other states not listed above: $83,200 - $131,000 The posted compensation range on this listing represents UMB’s good faith and reasonable estimate based on its budget and what it expects to be the starting pay for this role, but the actual compensation may vary by geographic location, experience level, and other job-related factors.
