Coinbase, Inc. is seeking an AI Foundations Engineering Lead to oversee the Neutral Foundations pillar, shaping the roadmap and delivery across shared AI services.

You will partner with product and senior engineers to balance rapid innovation with reliability, security, and cost while growing leadership and governance across the team. Base salary range is $253,895—$298,700 USD, with equity and bonus eligibility and comprehensive medical, dental, and 401(k) benefits.

Qualifications

• Lead the Neutral Foundations pillar of Coinbase's AI Tooling Strategy and set the 2027 roadmap.
• Drive operational excellence of AI primitives/services and balance speed with reliability.
• Grow leadership within AI Foundations and partner with Security, Legal, and Finance on governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI Foundations engineering, with responsibility for hiring, coaching, and delivery across shared AI services.
• Partner with Product and senior engineers to balance rapid model and agent innovation with reliability and cost.
• Own engineering-side vendor relationships and operational readiness, and collaborate on governance and spend controls.
