Job summary

WEX, Inc. is seeking a Senior Database Architect to unify legacy SQL Server systems with AI-ready data infrastructure. Lead the decomposition of complex stored procedures while shaping vector databases, embeddings, and semantic models for AI agents and workflows.

You will drive AI-first modernization, leveraging AI tools to accelerate analysis, migration, and schema documentation, and design the data layer that powers AI-native applications.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in SQL Server including T-SQL optimization and indexing.
• Experience decomposing large stored procedures and migrating logic to services.
• Experience across relational and NoSQL platforms (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB/Cosmos, Snowflake).
• Knowledge of event-driven patterns, CDC, outbox, and CQRS.
• Ability to design semantic models and vector DB strategies for AI retrieval.
• Familiarity with data governance and domain-driven design concepts.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and decompose large SQL Server stored procedures and create migration plans.
• Design patterns to separate business logic from data access.
• Lead refactoring aligning DB structures with domain-driven design.
• Implement event-driven patterns and modern data architectures.
• Design vector databases and embedding pipelines for AI agents.
• Collaborate with AI/ML teams to support RAG and semantic data models.
