Job summary

Cengage Group is seeking an AI Automation Engineer – Finance & Accounting to apply AI to automate finance workflows, reduce costs, and increase accuracy. You will partner with Controller, FP&A, and Procurement to deliver high-value automation across AP, AR, reconciliation, and reporting.

Ideal candidates have production AI experience, finance acumen, and a track record in regulated environments. This role requires strong Python/SQL skills, familiarity with LLMs and document AI, and experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of finance automation, RPA, or software development for finance functions.
• Strong Python and SQL with production automation experience.
• Hands-on with LLMs and document AI (OCR, invoice extraction).
• Working knowledge of accounting principles, GL structures, and financial close processes.
• Experience with ERP platforms (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Workday).
• Understanding of SOX controls, audit evidence, and financial compliance.
• Excellent communication with Controllers, FP&A, and Internal Audit.

Responsibilities

• Automate AP/AR processing including invoice capture, matching, and approval.
• Build reconciliation automations across GL, bank, credit card, and intercompany accounts.
• Develop expense report processing, policy checks, and anomaly detection.
