Job summary

Etched is assembling a small, central team to build and run factory testing infrastructure. You will own the systems that provision and run test stations, move results and logs to a single source of truth, and safely roll out new test software across factories.

You will collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, and production teams, including contract manufacturers, to ensure reliable, scalable testing from NPI to mass production.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building and operating production infrastructure.
• Strong Linux administration skills: boot process, package management, systemd, storage, and debugging from the command line.
• Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and data center layouts.
• Experience with distributed systems: services across many machines and failure handling.
• Strong coding skills in Python, C++, or Rust with real tooling experience.
• Experience with automation and configuration management (Ansible, Terraform) and CI/CD.
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana) and debugging production issues.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Willingness to work onsite in San Jose or Taiwan and travel to manufacturing partners as needed.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate the test execution platform that runs factory tests across stations, servers, and racks.
• Provision and manage the Linux fleet on the factory floor: imaging, network boot, configuration management, and lifecycle automation.
• Design and maintain networking that test stations depend on with factory partners on site.
• Build data pipelines capturing test runs, logs, and hardware genealogy for central view of history and throughput.
• Own release, canary, and rollback of factory test packages to production safely.
• Build monitoring and alerting across factory infrastructure and lead debugging when issues block production.
• Integrate with contract manufacturers' factory systems and internal data platforms.
• Automate repetitive debug tasks and support AI-assisted failure triage.
