Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Subject Matter Expert in Investment Banking to define what excellent AI-assisted banking looks like and translate that into better models and products. You will leverage deep, current knowledge of company and industry research, financial analysis and modeling, valuation, diligence, and client materials to design realistic tasks and high-quality references.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of investment banking experience with live transaction execution and producing analyses, models, and client materials.
• Ability to build and review financial analyses in Excel and produce polished PowerPoint materials.
• Strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to present complex data clearly.

Responsibilities

• Define the quality bar for AI-assisted investment banking work across research, financial analysis, valuation, modeling, diligence, and client materials.
• Translate banking workflows into challenging evaluation tasks with realistic inputs and success criteria.
• Create and refine banker-grade reference artifacts including financial models, valuation analyses, diligence materials, and transaction documents.
• Develop rubrics and grading methods that assess financial correctness, analytical judgment, source quality, and presentation.
• Evaluate model outputs and end-to-end workflows, identify failure modes, and provide actionable feedback to Research, Engineering, and Product.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and product teams on evals, datasets, and QA processes to improve model performance on financial work.
• Work with product teams to identify high-value AI opportunities in investment banking and prototype workflows.
• Engage with customers and domain reviewers to understand real-world standards and governance for responsible deployment.
