Job summary

OpenAI seeks a Subject Matter Expert in Investment Banking in San Francisco to define what excellent AI-assisted banking work looks like and to turn that standard into better models and products.

You will bring deep, current knowledge of company and industry research, financial analysis and modeling, valuation, diligence, transaction execution, and creation of client materials. This is a hands-on role combining work and explanation, with relocation support and a 3-day in-office hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of investment banking experience and high-quality analyses
• Ability to build and review financial models and client materials
• Strong judgment and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and defensibility

Responsibilities

• Define the quality bar for AI-assisted investment banking work across core activities
• Translate workflows into challenging, representative evaluation tasks
• Create banker-grade reference artifacts including financial models and diligence materials
• Develop rigorous rubrics and grading methods for financial correctness and presentation quality
• Evaluate model outputs and identify recurring failure modes for feedback
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and product teams on evals and tooling
• Partner with product teams to identify high-value AI opportunities in banking
• Engage with customers and domain reviewers to align with real-world standards
