Job summary

Capital One is offering a full-time AI Engineering Internship for Summer 2027, spanning twelve weeks with in-person attendance at a U.S. location under a hybrid model.

Interns may be evaluated for a full-time role, with potential immigration sponsorship for future positions, and a start date to be determined after graduation. Qualified candidates are PhD students in CS/AI/related fields, with at least one year of AI/ML development experience and programming in Python, Go, Scala or Java.

Qualifications

• PhD candidate in CS/AI/related field expected by Aug 2029 or earlier.
• At least 1 year of experience developing AI/ML algorithms.
• At least 1 year of programming experience in Python, Go, Scala or Java.

Responsibilities

• Prototype and ship AI-native products that reach millions of customers.
• Research, prototype, and productionalize high-impact AI systems and pipelines.
• Design and optimize infrastructure of the AI stack, including training and inference, guardrails, and evaluation frameworks.
• Leverage AWS Ultraclusters, PyTorch, and agentic frameworks in development.
• Utilize tools like Claude Code and Windsurf to accelerate concept-to-code.
• Architect agentic workflows that enable autonomous tool use and multi-step reasoning in complex environments.
