Job description

Req ID: JR114915 Technical Program Manager, Smart Manufacturing AI Pathfinding & Innovation (AIPI)

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

About our Team

The Smart Manufacturing AI Pathfinding & Innovation (AIPI) team sits at the absolute forefront of technological discovery, exploring unproven AI architectures, next-generation large language models (LLMs), speculative multimodal systems, and emerging agentic frameworks. Our mission is to guide initiatives from speculative research concepts into functional proofs-of-concept (PoCs) while systematically de-risking and validating the future of our AI technical roadmap.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly strategic and technically fluent Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our Smart Manufacturing AI Pathfinding & Innovation (AIPI) team. In this role, you will thrive in deep ambiguity, bridging the gap between research, machine learning engineers, infrastructure teams, and executive leaders to structure the discovery process itself and transform exploratory ideas into actionable, measurable programs.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the daily work and enable the long-term strategy of AIPI programs; develop and document processes and methodologies to drive consistency across AIPI initiatives; act as a central point of contact and single source of truth for AIPI programs.
  • Oversee all aspects of AI pathfinding projects, including resourcing and timeline; design and maintain scalable project roadmaps aligned with strategic goals; identify and work to close any technical gap or barrier stalling project achievement.
  • Represent the AIPI function in cross-functional operations initiatives, working teams, and meetings to further priorities, establish relationships, and act as liaison between organizations; partner closely with collaborators and SMEs to develop meaningful, measurable objectives and actions.
  • Advise leadership on technical feasibility, risk mitigation, and resource allocation to optimize outcomes; communicate high-level technical risks and breakthroughs clearly to non-technical executives; develop, coordinate, and sustain top-level organizational objectives with regular read-outs to senior/executive partners.
  • Partner to identify technical bottlenecks, evaluate trade-offs, and decide when to adjust, scale, or end experimental paths. Remove technical and operational barriers so research teams can move quickly. Establish quick learning loops, checkpoints, and measures for unproven technologies. Implement and lead all aspects of important measures to ensure deliverables are achieved and have the desired impact.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Computer Science, Engineering, or other related technical degree.
  • 5+ years experience in complex program management and demonstrated success in global program execution.
  • Proven ability to manage sophisticated technical programs, coordinate cross-functional teams, and drive projects to successful completion while balancing competing priorities and constraints.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Extensive experience interacting with senior executives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in program management, project management, and vendor relationship management.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, and shape unstructured, exploratory ideas into defined experimental roadmaps.
  • AI Literacy: Solid foundational understanding of AI concepts, including deep learning, neural network architectures, transformers, training vs. inference lifecycles, and modern data processing workflows.
  • Hands‑on experience managing complex AI/ML and data‑driven projects involving data scientists, engineers, SMEs, and senior leadership.
  • Experience translating functional objectives into actionable plans and ensuring seamless execution across cross‑functional technical teams.
