Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Manager, AI Engineering to lead foundational AI systems. The role partners with engineers, scientists, PMs, and managers to deliver AI-powered products and scalable AI infrastructure.

You will oversee model training, inference, guardrails, evaluation, and governance while shaping the long-term strategy and mentoring engineers. The ideal candidate has leadership experience and deep expertise in AI, ML, and scalable cloud deployments, enabling high-impact delivery

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus required experience.

Responsibilities

Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products and improve how associates and customers interact with Capital One.
Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and support of AI software components including LLM inference, guardrails, evaluation, governance, and observability.
Make high-judgment build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI technologies.
Invent and apply state-of-the-art optimization techniques to improve performance, cost, latency, and throughput of production AI systems.
Contribute to the long-term technical vision and roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One.
Mentor and develop team members to grow capabilities and stay at the forefront of AI advances.
