Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking a highly skilled AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy scalable AI-driven applications that improve clinical operations, patient care, and health system efficiency. This role covers data pipelines, model training, evaluation, and deployment of ML and generative AI on cloud platforms, working with clinicians, data scientists, and IT teams.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of production AI/ML experience, strong Python and SQL skills, and familiarity with MLOps,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of progressively responsible AI/ML experience.
• Experience with data analysis and ML tools such as Jupyter, Pandas, scikit-learn, NumPy/SciPy, PyTorch.
• Demonstrated knowledge of full software development lifecycle.
• Advanced Python programming with production-ready code.
• Experience deploying AI/ML models and pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable data integration and transformation pipelines for AI/ML tools.
• Deploy and monitor ML and generative AI models with CI/CD practices.
• Design and develop APIs or lightweight web applications for clinical workflows.
• Collaborate with data scientists, clinicians and IT teams to deliver reliable solutions.
