Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking an AI Engineer II to contribute to Blue Ring's AI/ML systems for satellite fleet operations. You will work with senior engineers to build agent tooling, knowledge pipelines, and ML models that reduce operator cognitive load and enable fleet-scale management.

Role involves developing multi-agent telemetry analysis, anomaly detection, and time-series forecasting models, with a focus on production-grade AWS/Docker-based services and robust CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience with exposure to AI/ML applications.
  • Experience with building or contributing to LLM-based applications, RAG pipelines, or agent-based systems.
  • Exposure to time-series data processing, anomaly detection, or ML model training on telemetry data.
  • Strong programming skills and CS fundamentals; familiarity with CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and test multi-agent components within Blue Ring's AI/ML stack for telemetry analysis and anomaly detection.
  • Build and maintain integrations connecting agents to ground system services and data pipelines.
  • Create tooling, prompts, and orchestration logic for LLM service integrations and RAG workflows.
  • Deploy containerized AI services on AWS, maintain audit trails and observability, and support incident response.

You will contribute to the AI and machine learning capabilities embedded in Blue Ring's ground system, spanning multi-agent monitoring, conversational knowledge retrieval, and ML-driven anomaly detection that empower satellite operations at fleet scale. In this role, you will help build agent tooling, maintain RAG knowledge pipelines, develop telemetry ML models, and support production AI services that operators rely on daily.Role and Responsibilities:As a member of the Blue Ring AI/ML engineering team, you will contribute to the AI/ML systems that form the intelligence layer for Blue Origin's satellite fleet operations. Working alongside senior engineers, you will help build, test, and deploy the agents, knowledge pipelines, and ML models that reduce operator cognitive burden and enable fleet-scale management. You will be expected to:Multi-Agent System Development:Implement and test agent components within the multi-agent architecture for telemetry analysis, anomaly detection, and reportingBuild and maintain integrations that connect agents to ground system servicesDevelop agent tooling, prompt templates, and orchestration logic for LLM service integrationsBuild and maintain RAG pipeline components including document ingestion, embedding generation, and vector database indexingImplement retrieval strategies and answer generation workflows for operator queriesImplement components for human-in-the-loop decision workflows, including investigation packages and remediation optionsDeploy and maintain containerized AI services using Docker and AWS infrastructureContribute to audit trail, observability systems, and production operations including incident responseModel Development (Post-training and Time-series Analysis):Prepare and transform spacecraft telemetry data for ML model trainingAssist in training and evaluating anomaly detection and time-series forecasting models on telemetry dataSupport automated model retraining pipelines that incorporate new flight data and operator feedbackDevelop model evaluation scripts and metrics trackingRequired Qualifications:Able to work onsite in one of our Kent, WA, Renton, WA, or Reston, VA offices.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, or a related field3+ years of professional software development experience with exposure to AI/ML applicationsProficiency in Python and familiarity with at least one AI/ML framework (PyTorch, TensorFlow)Experience with building or contributing to LLM-based applications, RAG pipelines, or agent-based systemsExposure to time-series data processing, anomaly detection, or ML model training on sensor or telemetry dataExperience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), containerization (Docker), and basic CI/CD practicesSolid understanding of CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and version controlStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailGood written and verbal communication skills for documentation and team collaborationPreferred Qualifications:Experience with AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, or equivalent managed AI/ML servicesExperience with Databricks or similar platforms for data engineering and ML workflowsFamiliarity with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, pgvector, FAISS) and embedding model pipelinesExperience with time-series ML architectures (RNNs, LSTMs, Transformers) for forecasting or anomaly detectionExposure to multi-agent system frameworks or agentic AI orchestration patternsFamiliarity with spacecraft operations, satellite telemetry, or aerospace engineering conceptsExperience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform) and KubernetesExperience with real-time data streaming systems (Kafka, Kinesis)Familiarity with reinforcement learning concepts or graph neural network applicationsInterest or experience in model compression, edge deployment, or resource-constrained inferenceBase Pay Range for:VA applicants is $134,961.00 - $188,945.40WA applicants is $134,961.00 - $188,945.40Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
