Job summary

Willis Towers Watson is seeking an AI-enabled Software Engineer to accelerate software development and improve code quality using modern AI coding assistants and developer platforms.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, integration of AI services, and scalable backend APIs. You will collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to deliver AI-enabled features while maintaining secure coding and robust CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with exposure to AI-enabled development workflows or AI-powered features.
• Experience designing, consuming, and integrating RESTful APIs and cloud services.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy software applications that use AI capabilities to improve productivity, automation, and user experience.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to support coding, debugging, refactoring, documentation, and test generation.
• Integrate AI services, LLM APIs, and third-party platforms into applications via secure, maintainable APIs.
• Develop and maintain backend services and APIs with scalability, reliability, performance, and clean engineering practices.
• Apply prompt engineering, workflow automation, and AI orchestration to create AI-enabled features for users and teams.
• Evaluate and apply modern AI platforms and agentic coding workflows to accelerate delivery while ensuring code quality and security.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled AI-enabled Software Engineer who can apply modern AI tools and platforms to accelerate software development, improve code quality, and build intelligent product features. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience using AI coding assistants and developer platforms such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar tools, combined with strong software engineering fundamentals and practical experience integrating APIs into production‑ready applications.

The Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy software applications that use AI capabilities to improve productivity, automation, and user experience.
• Use AI‑assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar platforms to support coding, debugging, refactoring, documentation, and test generation.

Qualifications

The Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience, with exposure to AI‑enabled development workflows or AI‑powered application features.
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Python, .NET, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar.
• Practical experience using AI coding tools or platforms such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, or comparable developer assistants.
• Experience designing, consuming, and integrating RESTful APIs, third‑party services, cloud services, or LLM APIs.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle practices, including Git‑based workflows, testing, CI/CD, code review, documentation, and secure coding.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to learn and apply new AI development tools quickly.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).

Compensation

The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $210,000– $250,000 USD per year. This role is also eligible for an annual short‑term incentive bonus.
