Job summary

Beazley Security Labs is seeking a Vulnerability Detection Engineer. You will identify critical vulnerabilities from internet exposure, build deterministic detections, and ship them to the Exposure Management platform so clients know their exposure before attackers.

Join a cross-disciplinary team that blends vulnerability research, exploit analysis, and threat intelligence with engineering. You will automate research, validate detections, and contribute to advisories and client guidance.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in SQL and data analysis with large datasets.
  • Python for data manipulation, parsing, tooling, and automation.
  • Ability to design agentic AI workflows for detection research.
  • Experience with Git, code review, and testing in a detection engineering environment.
  • Strong grasp of networking fundamentals, HTTP, TLS, and web architecture.
  • Understanding of common vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques.
  • Ability to read a vendor advisory or PoC to identify evidence of vulnerability.
  • Ability to work carefully with ambiguous or incomplete data.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct vulnerability research on internet-exposed services and identify vulnerable patterns in scan data.
  • Monitor advisories and determine which vulnerabilities require detection coverage.
  • Analyze proof-of-concept exploits to identify version strings and fingerprints.
  • Author, test, and maintain vulnerability detection logic for Exposure Management.
  • Develop and maintain scan configurations, including service fingerprinting and protocol probes.
  • Validate detections across client assets and manage false positives/negatives.
  • Build and improve internal tooling for vulnerability monitoring and regression testing.
  • Collaborate on advisories and remediation guidance accompanying detections.
  • Partner with other departments to implement detection coverage in Exposure Management.
  • Explore Agentic AI to improve detection research and deployment processes.
  • Research using Agentic AI to identify affected software and produce advisories.
