Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to advance secure, scalable technology within the Chief Technology Office's Intelligent Solutions Product Line. You will lead architecture, implementation, and AI-enabled engineering practices across multiple business functions.

The role requires hands-on Java (and/or Python), cloud AWS experience, and a focus on secure coding, automated testing, and production reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years formal software engineering training or certification with at least 8+ years of hands-on experience.
• Expert in Java (and/or Python) with strong engineering practices, performance, and secure coding.
• Demonstrated experience using enterprise AI assistant tools in engineering workflows with validation controls.
• Experience enabling reusable engineering capabilities at scale with platform engineering mindset.
• Proficient in AI/ML-enabled applications, including integration patterns like RAG and NLP, with safe deployment practices.
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, privacy, and security expectations.
• Proven track record building and improving CI/CD pipelines and automation across the SDLC.
• Cloud-native engineering experience (preferably AWS) with containers, observability, and operational readiness.
• Prior leadership or mentorship experience delivering production-grade solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver creative software solutions through architecture, development, and troubleshooting.
• Architect, build, and operate secure, high-quality production systems using Java and AI tools.
• Promote enterprise AI-assisted engineering practices with validation standards and automated testing.
• Partner with product/engineering leadership to shape technical vision and implement roadmaps.
• Improve automation-first practices including CI/CD, environment management, and release controls.
• Integrate AI/ML capabilities into software systems with secure handling of data and outputs.
• Design experiments, evaluate AI/ML models, and deliver scalable, observable components/services.
• Identify recurring issues and drive automation to raise operational maturity and reliability.
• Mentor engineers and AI practitioners to reinforce ownership and accountability.
