Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Houston to advance a secure, scalable platform within Global Technology Banking. You will own end-to-end delivery across backend, API, and UI layers—shaping technical direction, building production-grade services, and ensuring robust data flows across the JPM ecosystem.

You will lead high-impact initiatives, mentor engineers, and champion AI-assisted development while maintaining secure coding practices and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5 years applied experience.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
• Proficiency with AWS, Terraform, GitHub, Jenkins, and modern developer tooling.
• Experience with AI-assisted software development tools and responsible AI use.
• Relational and NoSQL databases knowledge; PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis, Cassandra.
• Containerization with Docker and orchestration (ECS, EKS, Kubernetes).
• Experience across the full SDLC from design to production support.
• Monitoring/observability tools such as Splunk, Datadog, CloudWatch.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement complex software components across backend services, APIs, and UI using Java, Python, and React.
• Build and refine agentic capabilities using the Smart SDK with tool integration and guardrails.
• Adopt enterprise AI-assisted development practices to improve code quality, speed, and reliability.
• Utilize SDLC tools to improve automation and value realization.
• Write secure production code and lead code reviews, debugging, and mentorship.
• Drive reliability by automating recurring issues and improving system stability.
• Engineer data and search solutions with PostgreSQL and OpenSearch for AI workflows.
• Contribute to cloud-native engineering on AWS and infrastructure-as-code with Terraform.
• Participate in architectural evaluations with partners and vendors.
• Champion modern engineering practices and inclusive team culture.
