Job summary

NorthMark Strategies LLC seeks a Director of Cyber Defense to own the enterprise security program, including detection engineering, incident response, threat intelligence, and AI-enabled safeguards across the portfolio.

You will lead a global, multi-tenant security operation, drive agentic defenses with AI, govern AI security, and coordinate with executives and boards on risk posture. This role requires 10+ years in cyber defense and a strong Microsoft security background.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or a related field.
• 10+ years in cyber defense or security operations, including 5+ years leading teams.
• Experience applying AI/ML and automation to security operations, with agentic cyber defense vision.
• Knowledge of AI security governance: securing LLM/agentic workloads, AI gateways, and model endpoints.
• Deep expertise in the Microsoft security ecosystem (Sentinel, Defender, Entra ID) and SOAR platforms; proficiency with KQL, Python, and PowerShell.
• Experience running security monitoring at scale in multi-tenant, multi-entity environments; regulated industries preferred.
• Experience implementing data classification and protection programs (e.g., Microsoft Purview, DSPM).
• Strong understanding of data protection controls across cloud and endpoints; encryption, key management, data residency, insider risk.
• Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and threat intelligence.
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GCIH, GCFA.
• Familiarity with NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS, GDPR.
• Excellent communication; integrity; coaching and team-building.
• Legal eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Cyber defense leadership across detection engineering, incident response, threat intelligence, threat hunting, and DFIR.
• Direct 24x7 global IT security monitoring across a multi-tenant environment.
• Lead AI adoption with agentic cyber defense and human-in-the-loop controls.
• Govern AI security including data handling, governance and risk management.
• Own enterprise incident response framework and post-incident reviews.
• Drive SIEM/SOAR strategy and AI-enhanced detections.
• Mature threat intelligence program and proactive hunting.
• Engage stakeholders and report posture to executives and boards.
• Build and retain a high-performing cyber defense team.
• Ensure regulatory alignment across portfolio.
