Job summary

Anthropic is seeking an exceptional Research Scientist to join the Life Sciences team. This role combines deep computational biology expertise with frontier AI capabilities, positioning Anthropic at the forefront of AI-driven scientific discovery.

You will work on large-scale analyses, collaborate with experimental biologists, and expose your work to Claude and internal frameworks, shaping how AI transforms biological research and informing model improvements.

Qualifications

  • Have a PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, biophysics, ML, CS, or related field, or equivalent industry research experience
  • Have a track record of computational biology research you led end to end with impact (publications, datasets, tools)
  • Have breadth across multiple areas of computational biology
  • Proficient in one or more programming languages used in scientific computing and comfortable on large datasets in Linux and cloud compute environments
  • Can take an ambiguous biological question, scope the analysis, and produce a result an experimentalist can act on
  • Communicate computational results clearly to both biologists and ML researchers

Responsibilities

  • Build, run, and maintain analysis pipelines for the team’s experimental programs across sequence analysis, structure bioinformatics, phylogenetics, and high-throughput functional screens
  • Partner directly with experimental biologists to design experiments that produce high-quality data and inform the next steps
  • Draw on literature and knowledge bases to generate and prioritize hypotheses for experimental follow-up
  • Stand up and maintain the team’s computational infrastructure, data ingestion, workflow orchestration, and internal databases
  • Use Claude and internal agent frameworks in your work and contribute to model improvements with evaluations and datasets
  • Take on analyses across projects as priorities shift, showing breadth and flexibility
