Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) invites applications for a Strategic Senior Faculty position in the Department of Chemistry within the College of Humanities and Sciences. We seek Associate or Full Professor candidates with an internationally recognized record and strong external grant support to advance AI/ML-enabled chemistry for human health and drug discovery.

The successful applicant will collaborate across VCU, mentor students and new faculty, and contribute to teaching at both

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in chemistry, medicinal chemistry, chemical biology or closely related field is required, and post-doctoral experience is strongly encouraged
• An internationally recognized research record and a strong record of external grant support
• Demonstrated teaching experience at the university level at undergraduate and graduate levels
• Commitment to foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences

Responsibilities

• Collaborate extensively across VCU, including with the health sciences campus
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and new faculty
• Lead innovative, AI/ML-enabled chemistry research aligned with societal grand challenges

Education

Ph.D. in chemistry, medicinal chemistry, chemical biology or closely related field
