Job summary

David Joseph & Company, a lean, venture-backed startup building an AI-driven revenue platform for D2C brands, seeks a Backend Engineer with a data-engineering focus in San Francisco. You will own pipelines for data enrichment, normalization, and ingestion while building the platform infrastructure that does not yet exist.

You will work directly with a co-founder on a small team to ship end-to-end features. You should be fluent in AI coding tools as a daily practice, possess strong systems

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in using AI coding tools as a core part of daily development.
• Solid systems engineering fundamentals and data-layer design.
• Demonstrated startup experience with genuine ownership of what was built.
• Comfortable with a high-intensity pace: 5-6 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data enrichment, normalization, and ingestion pipelines.
• Develop feature engineering and platform infrastructure, including observability and workflow tooling.
• Work extensively with AI coding tools as a core part of daily development.
• Translate customer feedback and requirements into shipped features, sometimes from meeting summaries.
• Contribute independently to systems and data-layer design decisions.
