Google LLC in Addison/Austin/Chicago area seeks a senior Database Engineer for Google Cloud to design, migrate, and optimize intelligent, multi-model database infrastructure for AI agents. You will work with enterprise customers to architect scalable, always-on databases and leverage automated onboarding, testing, migration, and observability tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
8 years of experience with Google Cloud Databases (e.g., AlloyDB, Cloud SQL, Spanner, Firestore, Bigtable).
Experience with RDBMS such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server (engines, schema design, concurrency).
Experience in Java, Python, build systems, ORMs (Hibernate), and JDBC.
Experience with IaC and AI, including Terraform provisioning and AI integration via LangChain and LangGraph.
Experience with performance and HA/DR (diagnosing execution plans, wait states, indexing, replication, failover, multi-region DR, PITR).

Responsibilities

Design and manage unified, multi-model database solutions; deploy MCP servers for secure interfaces.
Lead complex database modernizations using migration Agents; use DMS.
Shift database SRE to AI-driven management; use Gemini-powered observability agents.
Implement QueryData APIs and contexts to translate NL to SQL with high accuracy.
Establish security, encryption, and IAM-based access control per best practices.
