Job summary

Citi is seeking a Lead Data Engineer – AI & Distributed Analytics in Jersey City, NJ. You will architect enterprise data platforms, lead a team of engineers, and deliver high-performance pipelines bridging raw data to intelligent applications.

You will collaborate with Data Scientists, AI Researchers, Product Managers, and Enterprise Architects to shape Citi's data ecosystem and advance Generative AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years in data engineering or data platform development, with 3+ years in leadership.
• Expert Python and SQL for large-scale distributed data systems.
• Deep expertise in Iceberg, Pinot, and Hive/HDFS.
• Hands-on with real-time streaming via Kafka and Flink.
• Experience building ML/AI data infrastructure in production.
• Experience with Delta Lake or Iceberg and Lakehouse patterns.
• Experience with Airflow or similar orchestrators.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical vision and roadmap for Citi's Data Lake and Analytics platform.
• Lead and develop a team of data engineers and foster agile delivery.
• Build robust batch and streaming pipelines using Kafka, Flink, Iceberg, and Pinot.
• Architect Feature Stores for ML training and real-time inference.
• Optimize storage and query performance across data lakes/lakehouses.
• Implement data quality, lineage, and metadata management.
