Job summary

Jacobs, a leader in engineering and technology, seeks a mid-level AI Developer to build AI-powered applications and tooling. You will work with Python, TypeScript, and LangChain/LangGraph to deliver scalable AI solutions across government and private-sector clients.

The role is in the Digital and Data team, collaborating with data scientists, engineers, and PMs to translate requirements into production AI systems. A hybrid work model is offered in the Gainesville area.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of software development experience with AI/ML focus.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, AI, data science, or related field.
  • Proficient with AI/LLM APIs and frameworks (Claude, OpenAI, LangChain).

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered applications and tools using Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, and modern AI frameworks.
  • Build MCP servers and integrations to connect AI models with enterprise data sources and APIs.
  • Develop RAG pipelines and agentic workflows for internal and client projects.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and code quality.
  • Collaborate across teams to translate business requirements into production AI solutions.
  • Architect full-stack solutions including frontend (React) and backend APIs.
  • Evaluate and maintain AI platforms, APIs, and tooling.
  • Contribute to presentations, demos, and client-facing documentation.
  • Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Stay current with evolving AI tools and practices.

Job description

Your impact

We're looking for a mid-level AI Developer with strong software engineering skills, deep proficiency in AI-assisted coding tools, and hands-on experience building and deploying AI-powered applications to support AI solutions across the business for both government and private-sector clients. The ideal candidate will be a skilled software developer who can rapidly build, iterate, and ship AI-powered tools and applications. They should be highly proficient with AI coding assistants (Claude, OpenAI Codex, Cursor), experienced with agentic AI frameworks and orchestration patterns, and comfortable working across the full stack. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess a degree in computer science, AI, data science, engineering, or similar domain areas, as well as previous experience in consulting.

The chosen candidate will become a member of the Digital and Data team at Jacobs, helping drive innovation in technical project work for our clients in collaboration with subject matter experts, technologists, engineers, data scientists, project managers, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered applications and tools using Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, and modern AI frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or similar)
  • Build and configure MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers and integrations to connect AI models with enterprise data sources, APIs, and tooling
  • Develop RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines, agentic workflows, and AI-assisted automation solutions for internal and client-facing projects
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery and maintain high code quality
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with subject matter experts, data engineers, and project managers to translate business requirements into production-ready AI solutions
  • Architect and implement full-stack solutions including front-end interfaces (React, HTML/CSS/JS), back-end APIs, and cloud-hosted AI services
  • Evaluate, integrate, and maintain AI platforms, APIs, and toolchains as the technology landscape evolves
  • Contribute to technical presentations, demos, and documentation for both internal teams and external clients
  • Participate in knowledge sharing, code reviews, and mentoring across teams and domains
  • Stay current with rapidly evolving AI tools, models, and best practices; proactively bring new capabilities to the team
Here’s what you’ll need
  • 3-5 years of experience in software development, with at least 1-2 years focused on AI/ML application development
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, AI, data science, or similar domain
  • Demonstrated proficiency building applications with AI/LLM APIs and frameworks
    • Anthropic Claude API, OpenAI API, LangChain/LangGraph, Model Context Protocol (MCP), or similar
  • Strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript; working knowledge of SQL
  • Proven ability to use AI-assisted coding tools (Claude, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development workflows
  • Ability to travel as necessary to meet project and client requirements
Preferred
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, AI, software engineering, or similar domain
  • Experience in the AEC industry
  • Technical proficiency with tools and platforms such as
    • Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Palantir Foundry, Palantir AIP, AWS, Python, Power BI, GIS, and database technology (data lakes, vector database, etc.)

The base salary range for this position is $79,100.00 to $119,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
