Job summary

Photon seeks an AI Desktop Engineer to build cross‑platform desktop apps using Electron, delivering fast, accessible UX for enterprise staff, and integrating AI features with LLMs and RAG.

You will partner with design, product, and backend teams to translate workflows into robust desktop experiences, implement secure authentication, auto‑update, and telemetry, and contribute to code quality, testing, and performance optimization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building cross‑platform desktop apps with Electron on macOS and Windows.
• Strong focus on UX with design partnerships and user testing.
• Experience automating desktop workflows with caching, background tasks, notifications, and multi‑window experiences.
• Experience integrating AI services including LLMs, retrieval‑augmented generation, and agent workflows.
• Strong API skills: REST, GraphQL, event‑driven services; collaborate with backend/ platform engineers.
• Desktop release and QA practices: code signing, notarization, auto‑update, MDM, CI/CD, monitoring, tests.
• Proficiency in Python or similar backend language with cloud/container familiarity.
• Security: OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, enterprise SSO, local data protection, secrets management.
• Excellent communication with business teams to translate needs into design and execution.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering/IS or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Translate workflows into robust desktop experiences for enterprise users.
• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to ship features on a cross‑platform stack.
• Implement secure authentication, auto‑updates, and telemetry for enterprise deployments.
• Ensure performance, reliability, and maintainability of desktop clients in Azure/AWS/GCP environments.
